Bushlight India Project

CAT Projects

The ‘Bushlight India Project’ collaboratively developed and demonstrated the ‘Bushlight India Model’, a replicable, scalable model for the electrification of remote villages using RE minigrids. The Model is unique in India for its service philosophy of providing an agreed, assured amount of energy - available 24/7 - to all consumers, every day. This is achieved through a consultative energy planning process and the Urja Bandhu: a low cost household energy meter which demonstrates innovation, ingenuity and originality within the context of its intended application and is a notable example of technology transfer. Systems were installed in two remote Indian villages.
