The West Gate Bridge Strengthening Project has been one of the most complex and high risk engineering design and construction projects undertaken in Australia in recent years. It has been a once in a lifetime, ground breaking project that has extended the boundaries of engineering knowledge both in Australia and overseas. To undertake the task, a world-wide selection process led to the development of an Alliance in 2008 comprising VicRoads, principle contractor John Holland, Australian consultants Sinclair Knight Merz and the London-based consultants Flint and Neill, world renowned steel bridge experts.
